The Specialty Coffee Association Hong Kong (SCAHK) is a Nonprofit Organization (NPO) dedicated to advancing specialty coffee culture, elevating industry professional standards, and promoting sustainable development. Our mission is to establish Hong Kong as a core hub for specialty coffee in Asia through education, exchange, and innovation, while ensuring the coffee industry generates positive environmental, social, and economic impacts.

Core Mission

Promote Specialty Coffee Culture

• Organize professional training and certification programs (e.g., SCA International Coffee Certifications) to enhance the skills of baristas, roasters, and industry professionals.
• Popularize specialty coffee knowledge among the public through cupping, workshops, and public events, cultivating a high-quality coffee consumer market.

Foster a Sustainable Coffee Industry

• Advocate for eco-friendly practices such as low-carbon roasting, sustainable packaging, and coffee ground recycling to reduce the industry’s environmental footprint.
• Promote Direct Trade principles to ensure fair income for coffee farmers and improve living conditions in origin communities.

Strengthen Industry Exchange and Collaboration

• Regularly host coffee events, including origin cupping sessions and small-scale coffee competitions.

Fulfill Social Responsibility

• Provide vocational coffee training for disadvantaged groups (e.g., persons with disabilities, low-income individuals), creating employment opportunities.
• Collaborate with environmental organizations and social enterprises to drive the sustainable development of the coffee industry and create shared value for communities.

Sustainability Potential

• Seek collaboration with the Hong Kong Government and international organizations to establish Hong Kong-specific sustainability guidelines for specialty coffee.
